Fuensanta “La Moneta” is one of the leading figures in contemporary flamenco dance. With an early vocation, she trained from childhood in Granada’s flamenco clubs and venues, completing her apprenticeship with masters such as Javier Latorre, Mario Maya and Israel Galván. National recognition came very early when she was noticed in Madrid at the age of 16 as a dancer destined to make her mark.
The artist has been a member of Javier Latorre's company and has developed a coherent body of work of her own, which has premiered at events such as the Seville Biennial, the Jerez Festival and the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance. In 2003 she received the El Desplante Prize at the International Festival of El Cante de las Minas, one of the most prestigious awards in flamenco.
Among other accolades, La Moneta has received the Flamenco Hoy Award for Best Female Flamenco Dancer. Her powerful and profound dance establishes her as a key figure in contemporary flamenco.
