Accessibility in the visit

Impressionism is one of the movements that defined the birth of modern art. Artists such as Pissarro, Monet, Renoir, Degas and Berthe Morisot transformed the representation of reality by making light, colour and visual perception the protagonists of painting. The influence of japonisme and photography is fundamental to understanding the rethinking of the pictorial viewpoint and composition, and the Impressionist gaze. Through these new forms of representation, this session explores how Impressionism opened up new avenues of experimentation which led to the major avant-garde movements of the 20^th century.
