"Giovanna's Eyes" is a short film produced by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza as part of the Art Vivant programme, sponsored by Gran Meliá.
Inspired by Domenico Ghirlandaio's iconic Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni, the film offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the story, symbolism, and personality of one of the Renaissance's most captivating women. The project originated from an open call for emerging filmmakers from ECAM (The School of Cinematography and the Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid), with the aim of bringing the museum's collection into dialogue with the language of cinema and demonstrating that works of art continue to inspire new stories more than five centuries after they were created.
