To celebrate our exhibition Renaissance Venice: The Triumph of Beauty and the Destruction of Painting, we have organised a one-day art conference to explore the aspects that defined the artistic context of Venice in the 16th century, and the themes that connect the selected works on display.

Throughout the day leading specialists addressed various topics including the ideal of beauty, the use of colour in art, and sensuality in painting, with special emphasis given to the leading artists of the period such as Veronese. We concluded the day with a round table session in which we had compare the techniques of the Venetian Renaissance with those of Spanish painting of the Modern Age.
