Portraits of Women is a series of lectures based around the permanent collection. It analysed five works in which the female figure is the principal motif. Caravaggio, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Max Beckmann, Pierre Bonnard and John Singer Sargent created the five portraits chosen by Guillermo Solana, the museum’s Chief Curator. Each of his lectures analysed and relate the life and history of the five women depicted, namely Saint Catherine of Alexandria, Giovanna Tornabuoni, Quappi, Misia Godebska, and Millicent, Duchess of Sutherland.
