To coincide with the opening of our exhibition Surrealism and the Dream, the museum was organising an international conference to analyse the way in which Surrealist artists approached the world of dreams, an element they considered to be central to life. We also explored their role in and influence on today’s culture. Leading specialists were taken part in the conference such as the curator of the exhibition, José Jiménez, Professor of Aesthetics and the Theory of Art of the Universidad Autónoma. Georges Sebbag, Doctor of Philosophy and Surrealist Historian and Rosa María Malet, Director of the Fundación Joan Miró as well as other academics from the universities of Essex, Seville, Sarragossa, the Complutense in Madrid, Oporto, La Laguna, Manchester and Marseille-Méditerrannée were also been present.
