For the first time in Spain the museum is presenting a retrospective on the painter Alex Katz (born New York, 1927), still active today and one of the key figures in the history of 20th-century American art and a pioneer of Pop Art.

The exhibition is curated by Guillermo Solana, the museum’s Artistic Director. It has benefited from the support of Alex Katz and his studio who have closely followed the project. On display will be around 40 large-format oil paintings, together with various studies that allow for a survey of the habitual themes in the artist’s oeuvre: individual, double and group portraits, together with his distinctive flower paintings and brightly coloured, all-enveloping landscapes with their flat backgrounds.

Friends are offered the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive preview of the exhibition with a guest on Friday 10 June prior to the opening to the public.

There is also the chance for Friends to join one of the guided tours of the exhibition, scheduled for various dates in June. Prior booking required.
