In the Gallery: Piazza Navona, Rome (1699), by Gaspar van Wittel
What is a masterpiece? What can we expect to find in one? What should it convey to us? The 2016-2017 edition of the programme In the Gallery. Selected Works will be aiming to find answers to these and other questions through the explanatory talks on the paintings in the collection given every month by the Museum’s volunteers. To mark the Museum’s 25th anniversary in 2017, these talks are focusing on some of the masterpieces in the galleries.
This activity will be further enriched this season with the use of the Second Canvas app, a new digital tool that allows for a rare close-up gaze on details normally difficult to see. It also allows users to look up additional information on the artist and the period and to view other related paintings.
Activity in Spanish.
