The Dressing Mirror by Berthe Morisot is the subject of the first lecture in a series devoted to Modern Women in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, which is intended to complement the exhibition Heroines that will soon be opening to the public. Over five Saturdays (at noon) between 12 March and 9 April, the Museum’s Artistic Director, Guillermo Solana, will discuss five works from the Permanent Collection that offer different visions of women in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to Morisot, the other artists discussed are Manet, Degas, Munch and Hopper, whose work will be used to interpret an era characterised by the social and political emancipation of women.
