‘Spanish painting is unquestionably the main source of inspiration from which Balenciaga gets his ideas’, wrote Marie-Andrée Jouve, chief of the Balenciaga archives for more than three decades. Today these words resonate within the museum’s walls and are the focal point of the study day organised in connection with the exhibition on Balenciaga and Spanish Painting.

During the event, scheduled for a few days before the exhibition ends, researchers, curators and cultural managers will examine the famous couturier in depth in their lectures and discuss how Spanish art had an evident influence on his designs.
