Organised to complement the exhibition Dürer and Cranach: Art and Humanism in Renaissance Germany, the Museum organised a symposium that was been held on 16 and 17 November. The Century of Dürer: art historical issues, directed by Fernando Checa, was devoted to the figure of Albecht Dürer, subject of profound admiration, in part motivated by the biographies written on the artist. The first day was been spent analysing Dürer's personality as presented by the chroniclers, writers and historians who created and disseminated the myth of the painter. The second day was been devoted to the idea of Dürer as a paradigm of the European painter, who influenced the most important 16 th century schools, namely the Flemish, Italian and Spanish. The registration is already open.
