From February to May 2023 Fundación MAPFRE in Madrid will be presenting the exhibition Leonora Carrington. Revelation, the largest retrospective on the artist to be organised in Spain. In advance of her time, Carrington was one of the most important figures within the Surrealist movement and the creator of a unique aesthetic, symbolic and conceptual universe.

Among the works on display is a painting from the Thyssen’s permanent collection; Solitary and Conjugal Trees by Max Ernst, with whom Carrington maintained a close personal and artistic relationship.

To mark this loan, Friends are invited to take part in a private guided tour of the exhibition and discover Leonora Carrington’s artistic language and the themes of her work, which range from Celtic mythology to Tibetan Buddhism, the world of magic and the occult, and a respect for animals and nature, among many others.
