Dr Roland Mühlethaler, an entomologist, expert in animal vibratory communication and collaborator with Estudio Tomás Saraceno, will lead a 2-part activity - a workshop and guided tour - in connection with the exhibition More-than-humans. The two activities are booked separately with the option to book both.

Workshop Attuning to other worlds: Spiders’ webs and invertebrates’ vibrations

In the science workshop which takes place between 10.00 and 13.00 participants will construct simple electronic devices that will enable them to listen to the vibrations produced by spiders, insects and other invertebrates and which will then be used in a field mapping and recording of spiders’ webs in the museum’s garden and entrances.

Supervised children aged over 10 welcome.

Guided tour Mapping spiders’ webs against extinction and field work in the Real Jardín Botánico

From 15.00 to 17.00 (30 October) or from 10.00 to 13.00 (31 October), Dr Mühlethaler will lead a guided tour around the Real Jardín Botánico to look for the spiders’ webs that cohabit with urban spaces. All those who have taken part in the workshop can use the devices made there.

Supervised children aged over 8 welcome.

Meeting point: Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, basement level -1, EducaThyssen space, from where the group will walk to the Real Jardín Botánico.
