In 1993 the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza deposited a significant and representative group of its German and Italian paintings with the Monastery of Pedralbes in Barcelona. In 2004 the group was moved to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya where it remains on display today.
A selection of these paintings arrives at the Museum in connection with the celebrations taking place in 2021 to commemorate the birth of Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza. This selection sent from Barcelona for display in the galleries of the permanent collection comprises twelve paintings by artists such as Taddeo Gaddi, Fra Angelico, Giambattista Piazzetta and Giacomo Ceruti.
