In collaboration with the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the museum is presenting the exhibition Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino. A life together on stage. It focuses on the artistic relationship between this remarkable couple: one of the greatest set designers of all times and one of the most celebrated and unique costume designers for film and theatre. The exhibition features objects, photographs and audiovisual material relating to their theatrical productions, on which they habitually collaborate, and coincides with the opening at the Teatro de la Zarzuela of La tabernera del Puerto which has sets and costumes by the couple.

Various elements from sets by Frigerio, a group of costumes designed by Squarciapino and photographs of their productions are shown in the exhibition (free entry) alongside the projection of a documentary in which Frigerio offers a first-hand account of his special artistic relationship with the stage director Giorgio Strehler. One of the most important names in international directing, Strehler revolutionised the way of making theatre and his influence extended to both his contemporaries and to succeeding generations of directors.
