Pictorial performance by Alberto Reguera

In his pictorial performances, the painter from Segovia explores the concept of “expanded painting”: acts of creation that propose to expand a painting beyond its margins, materializing the sensations that surround and transmit its landscapes.

Reguera seeks to develop interaction with the public, making them accomplices of the new brushstrokes that expand the work from which they are born.

The action is also accompanied by music, which helps to generate the right atmosphere and responds to the painter's desire to establish synesthetic connections, as part of his conception of painting as an art open to other disciplines.

The paintings presented in the exhibition which frame this performance take their starting point from a work in the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection: Moonlit Landscape with a Road beside a Canal by the Dutch painter Aert van der Neer (Amsterdam, 1603-1677), selected due to the importance conceded to the sky and clouds in the scene, an ongoing focus within Alberto Reguera’s work.
