Bookings

Required for formal educational institutions, associations, cultural centres, Tourism professionals, and Friends of the Museum.

The guide or teacher may only book a single time slot (either for the Permanent Collection, Carmen Thyssen Collection or a temporary exhibition) during which the guided tour will take place. If another space is required on the same day, availability must be confirmed at the Museum’s Information Desk on the day of the tour.

Tickets

Grant access to the Permanent Collection, Carmen Thyssen Collection and temporary exhibitions where guided explanations are permitted. The guide/teacher leading the guided tour is granted 2 free tickets maximum per group to visit the Museum beforehand and prepare the visit, upon written request at least 48 hours in advance to @email (subject to availability). 

Explanation in the Rooms

· Teachers: upon presentation of valid accreditation from a recognised educational institution at the Information Desk prior to the visit (max. 2 per group).
· Guides: upon presentation of valid accreditation at the Information Desk prior to the visit (max. 2 per group).
· Only one guided or school group is permitted in a gallery room at a time.

Free entrance is not available for group visits in these cases:

· ICOM-accredited professionals.
· Media professionals.
· Mutual society members.
· Invited guests.

Conditions for visits with own guide or teacher

· Booking: Must be completed here.
· Payment: Tickets must be paid at least 15 days in advance.

Visits with own guide or teacher without prior booking: Availability checks at the information desk on the day of the visit.

Capacity

· Maximum group size: 27 people for the Permanent Collection and 22 for temporary exhibitions (including guides or teachers).
· Guides and teachers: Maximum of 2 per visit. Accreditation must be presented prior to the visit.

Guided tour system (microphone + receiver)

· Mandatory: Use of a guided tour system (microphone + receiver) is required for all visits, except for primary and secondary school students. Rental available at €1 per receiver and free for tourism professionals.

Times for guided tours

· Permanent Collection and Carmen Thyssen Collection: Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00 – 18.55 (subject to change depending on exhibitions and special openings).
· Temporary exhibition (Level 0): Tuesday to Friday, 10.30 – 18.55 and Sundays, 15.00 – 18.55 (subject to change depending on exhibitions and special openings).

Visit duration

· Temporary exhibition: Maximum 60 minutes.
· Permanent Collection: Maximum 75 minutes.
· Carmen Thyssen Collection: Maximum 75 minutes.

Additional notes

· Silence and respect: Keep the group together and please speak in a low voice.
· Permitted materials: Only paper up to A4 size (210 x 297 mm) will be permitted. and graphite pencils allowed. Paints, pens, tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are not permitted. 
· Device use: Tablets may be used by guides or teachers as support during the visit. Phone calls are not allowed; headphones or the holdto- ear feature must be used for apps.
· Galleries will close 5 minutes prior to the museum’s closing time.
· Changes and adjustments: The museum may make adjustments to galleries due to artwork movements or loans to other institutions.

Cloakroom

· Permitted items: Backpacks, bags, umbrellas, suitcases (except on Mondays), toys, and balloons must be left in the cloakroom. Food, drinks, animals, and plants are not allowed.
· Available services: Walking stick chairs (only permitted for safety reasons in the Permanent Collection and the Carmen Thyssen Collection, except for individuals who require them for medical reasons)., baby pushchairs, wheelchairs, and electric scooters (free service with ticket).
