Once again, we invite young artists and creators from around the world to let their imaginations run wild and reinterpret some of the works in the museum’s collection through their own unique lens.

Directed by Max Basch and Malia Scharf, the artist's daughter, it centres on the artist’s personal life, from his early days in New York in the 1970s to his consolidation as a member of the East Village art movement in the 1980s and a pioneer of contemporary urban art.

You have the opportunity to explore, along with one of our experts, the greatest masters’ canvases, with an exclusive tour that let you discover all the secrets, anecdotes and curiosities of some of the most iconic paintings in the History of Art.

The museum has devised an online guided tour for Friends of In the shadow of Gaudí. The architect's essential collaborators, in partnership with the Friends of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). 

The new edition of The Thyssen on the street offers Friends the chance to enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition The other Face of the Avant-garde at Fundación Mapfre

Friends have the opportunity to tour the exhibition on the Sevillian painter and sculptor Carmen Laffón the weekend before it opens to the public, as well as to take part in private guided tours offered in various formats and with different options for dates and times.

The second block of the course Routes around the collection, devoted to exploring the history of art through the museum’s collection, will focus on the artistic movements that arose between the 18th century and the early decades of the 20th century.

The museum is offering visitors the chance to discover Dalí’s Freudian Universe with guided tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during normal opening hours.

The fifth edition of the performance cycle by women artists, Vision and presence, is presenting ten new performances devised by Spanish and international artists to be staged in different spaces around the museum.

A different Thyssen is an experimental platform within LabThyssen that invites young creators to reinterpret the museum’s collection through contemporary perspectives.

This in-person activity is designed to introduce Friends to the works in the collection one by one, through an intimate and interactive session held once a month.

In this year’s second edition of Travelling with the painting Friends can visit The Hague in conjunction with the simultaneous exchange of twenty-five works between the Museo Thyssen and the Mauritshuis.

Following the completion of the two cycles of the course In situ / Ex situ, the museum is proposing a short trip that allows participants, in collaboration with VisitFlanders, to see some of the works and spaces analysed during the sessions in situ.

Budapest is the new destination for the series Travelling with the painting and Friends are invited to discover this Central European city.

To coincide with the 61st International Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, there is a new destination in the “Short break” programme, which will offer Friends the chance to explore the artistic and cultural landscape of this Italian city.

Organismo | Art in Applied Critical Ecologies is an experimental applied research program developed by TBA21–Academy and Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. It weaves together situated investigation, critical theory, and speculative practices through a series of applied case studies developed in alliance with cultural, academic, and civic entities. 

The series The Thyssen Through the Eyes Of… comprises a series of events that invite museum staff to share their personal tours of the collection with participants. 

Take a closer look at the works in the collection from the point of view of the museum's restorers and you will learn about the treatments carried out on the paintings as well as some of the secrets and curiosities hidden in a selection of our Masterpieces.

With this virtual guided tour you can travel through seven centuries of art history through fifteen masterpieces and delve deeper into our collection. Narrated by our curators, discover the little stories hidden in the paintings at any time and pause the guided tour whenever you want.

Once again this year, Friends can enjoy a visit to ESTAMPA fair, now celebrating its 34th edition and showcasing a range of galleries committed to contemporary art while also promoting new artistic projects.
