The musical experience The Solitude of the New World fills the rooms of the Thyssen with Melancolía, linking the works of the painter Ben Shahn with the music of composer Sonia Megías. While Shahn’s paintings evoke complex emotions such as solitude, longing and estrangement; with her incisive and sensitive proposal, Megías provides us with a musical catalyst for the sense of human fragility in times of uncertainty. Both lead us to empathize with the experiences of many migrants when they arrive in an unfamiliar place, and to ask ourselves if art can act as a bridge to bring people together.

The players consist of: Sonia Megías, of Dúa de Pel; Marta Escudero, Rafael Tarjuelo and Rubén García-Casarrubios, of PlecTres; Ana Hormigos, flute; Jesús Fernández, clarinet, and Beatriz Alcaine, wardrobe.

The Solitude of the New World, the fourth part of the musical tour Movement, Better Shared is a new experience as part of 360º Thyssen, the project that gives you the opportunity to enjoy the works of the museum from different perspectives thanks to the collaboration of Fundación BBVA.
