The Comunidad de Madrid, one of the museum's main collaborating entities, supports this exhibition, built on the works of German Expressionist art that are part of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection (national public heritage) and the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection.

It was between the 60s and 90s when Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen undertook an intense activity, as collector of the main 20th art movements, with an important focus on the work of the German Expressionists. This exhibition rediscovers this set of works, with paintings by authors such as Nolde, Franz Marc, Kirchner, Kandinsky, Grosz, or Heckel.
