Exhibitions and activities not to miss in Madrid this autumn
This autumn, Madrid comes alive with art as the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum presents a new season of temporary exhibitions spanning different periods, artistic languages and approaches to art.
One of the highlights of the season is The Freudian Universe of Dalí, an exhibition exploring the Surrealist artist’s relationship with Sigmund Freud, psychoanalysis and the world of dreams. It offers an opportunity to discover how Freud’s ideas influenced Dalí’s imagination and work, and to explore one of the most fascinating aspects of his creative universe. The exhibition can also be visited free of charge on Saturdays from 9 pm to 11 pm.
Also this autumn, Seba Calfuqueo. Cautín presents the work of the Chilean artist in dialogue with themes of identity, territory and Mapuche culture. This exhibition can also be visited free of charge on Saturdays from 9 pm to 11 pm.
The autumn programme also features the colourful, urban world of Kenny Scharf and, from October, Mauritshuis ♥ Thyssen-Bornemisza. Masterpieces from The Hague, bringing together a selection of works from the Dutch museum and offering visitors the chance to discover some of the masterpieces from its collection. Together, these exhibitions make the Thyssen one of Madrid’s essential cultural destinations for anyone looking for exhibitions in Madrid this autumn, with a programme ranging from contemporary art and Surrealism to the Old Masters.
